49 Days with a Merman (2022)

if you take out the bromance, the show is pretty much the same. in fact, the mermaid is even funnier, and its a movie, so its shorter. i remember laughing and crying watching both of these shows lol

If you love the bromance in 49 Days then you will love the bromance in Panda and Hedgehog. Two very different stories from two different countries with great stories and relationships in common.

Both Dramas about male mermaids aka Merman (mermen). 49 Days was a bromance but Lover Merman is an actual BL. 49 Days with a Merman is a Taiwanese production. Lover Merman is a Thailand production.

One of our leads is a dumb mermaid/merman arrives in the shore by mistake and the other one is the first person he/she encounters in there. Both sea-creatures forms a strong bong with that person. They are about humans, mermans/mermaids and overall relationships and friendship. Sometimes they touch the topic of how we pollute the ocean. In both they are gready people who want to catch the merman/the mermaid for their own benefits. In both they are glimpses of the merman/mermaid's past. In both the merman/mermaid has a supernatural powers and strange urges. It shocks with unusual behaviour as it can't understand the human world well.

The plot revolves around the meaning of life when a young man meets a mysterious beauty who is the incarnation of goldfish. ~~ Adapted from the novel by Ogiwara Hiroshi.

Both are school and family dramas which have a person who lived in small place in his entire life and a newcomer who appears his age and pretends to be a member of his family out of convenience. At first the boys are very hostile one towards another, but later it grows into a strong bond. Both gives us the feelings that they should have been a very light BLs, but tease us with a very strange bromance instead.

Mermaid Got Married is the Splash-like tale of a beautiful mermaid who loses her pearl when she saves high school teacher Dior Cheng from drowning. It turns out she also saved him when they were both kids so there's an immediate connection between the two. Unfortunately, the pearl is the source of her power so she follows him onto land.
