Sakura is a single 39-year-old woman. She works at a beauty salon as its vice manager. Sakura makes customers pretty, but she isn't interested in making herself pretty. She envies falling in love, but at the same time is afraid of falling in love. One day, at a party, Sakura meets Hiroto, who is much younger than Sakura. Both female leads find themselves homeless and jobless and are offered a place to stay by the male lead. Both female leads struggle with self esteem issues.
In Usokon the female lead pretends to be married. The male lead loves the female lead and keeps the love to himself but her tries to win her over.
In Promise Cinderella the female lead lives with the male lead after a series of events. The second male lead loves the female lead and keeps the love to himself. This series has a love square, Where 3 men love one girl. I won't say more to spoil it but I thought it was well done.
In both Dramas we have a strong-minded/quick-to-fight, main female lead, and a rich/bratty/stubborn/childish male lead.
The differences between those two dramas, is that in Promise Cinderella, there is a 10 years age difference between the main leads; while in Hana Yori Dango all the characters had the same age.
Excluding the age difference, everything else is the same.
Promise Cinderella it's a fun thing to watch if you want to see sth at the end of the day, but you can't take it 100% seriously.
Both series are about troublemaking wealthier male leads falling and becoming better men for older female leads. Both series are fun to watch. Unlike Promise Cinderella, there is couple air time and it's is sweeter in Last Cinderella. Also, there are more side stories in Last Cinderella. LC deals with more adult stories than PC.
- Older woman/ younger man
- Funny and the acting is good
- the struggles of the FL is so relatable
Both involve main female leads taking on the responsibilities at an Inn that requires classic Japanese attire to work there. Both have the Inn operator as a love interest. I found the humor in Promise Cinderella.... my cup of tea though....
Male leads in both are troubled teenage boys acting out in immature ways despite the privileged lives that set them apart from kids their own age. The strong female leads in both defend the ML's in public which starts the whole love fest.
Both drama has an older woman at the mercy of a high school student. The younger man ends up falling for the older woman after she helps him overcome his internal conflicts. However, the woman is pining his male relative who is her first love.

Tetsuya soon becomes a university student, and Reiko follows him to Tokyo. But he is constantly at the mercy of her overly unique sensibilities. Then Tetsuya’s ex-girlfriend, a cute high school girl, the wealthy Yoshimoto Ryunosuke, who has fallen in love at first sight with Reiko and Reiko’s rival, Kakitsubata Ayame, appears before the two of them.

It remind me of this drama with similar story line of group of adults who got friends opposite sex & they all try overcome obstacles & hardship in their friendship. Starring famous Japanese actor & actresses.
