Jang Joon Hyun is a talented and popular musician. He looks down upon the traditional trot music genre. Meanwhile, Choi Chun Hee works multiple jobs as the breadwinner to support her father and younger sister. Her mother was a trot singer and she inherited the voice, along with hopes of being a trot singer herself someday. A romantic relationship begins between these two individuals

both directed by the same director...those shots, that cinematography and the background music will feel the same. Kanojo is more mainstream and taiyou no uta is more indie but nontheless both yui and sakurako are tremendous singers.

Music, romance, very sweet characters. Kanojo wa Uso Wo Aishisugiteru is a bit more mature and slightly melodramatic (but only very slightly). Make sure you watch until after the credits ;) while Ai Ore! Is more superficial and scripted to fit the label 'cute' (as with many manga adaptations)

Well, both shows about love through music with a dude being a musical genius and a girl having natural talent and a pure, honest heart. Both have a satisfying happy ending but with The Liar... you need to watch the after-credits scene. The Cantabile ML is totally different in character, funny, strong and sarcastic as hell, here we've got a more melancholic and supporting dude. Don't get me wrong - the Cantabile Chiaki-dude is supporting but in a different way and his mask agenda seems rude but in a funny way, you can't dislike his duo with Noda because their characters fit each other perfectly in such a romance-comedy. Try it.
