Dae Jo Yeong (2006)

Both are stories about great kings of Goguryeo/Balhae, rich in action, struggle, strategies and overcomeing often impossible obstacles. Both main characters are strong and righteous without becoming boring.

The Goryeo-Khitan War and Dae Jo Yeong are both historical dramas that deal with the conflicts between the Korean kingdoms and the Khitan Empire in the 10th and 11th centuries.

The movie's premise is same as the show, some of the characters from the show are also in this movie but portrayed differently

both of them are based on a true story of a man who has the dream to do something great for his nation.

The story of this show is about the unifying of the three kingdoms ( Goguryo, Baekji and silla). By the way the actor who plays the role of the main character is the same actor who played the leading role in dae jo yeong >>> ((Choi Soo Jong)).

destroying Goguryeo and remake it in this shows. very attractive tv series for whom want to see survival of Goguryeo .

If you're interested in learning the history Queen Seondeok is a bit earlier but provides some context!! Both dramas were made really well too the acting is really great in both in my opinion

Funny that these two related shows came out the same year, you will find some of the characters from this show are also in that show portrayed by different actors and telling almost the same story but from different perspective. If you enjoy this show, you will enjoy that show as well.

Story about founding of a country, similar premise (mention of Goguryeo), same lead actor playing the lead title character of both shows. Also you will find some of the supporting casts are also both in these shows. If you are interested in history, the country Balhae is also reference/mentioned on emperor Wang gun.
