Ruyi's Royal Love in the Palace (2018)

Similars

Same historical figures although told in a similar story but characters are different. Same history. Same or similar names. Story told in another light
•Both female leads are the clever, strong and mature breed complete with "overly loyal sister-like maid" sidekick •Both women are fighting for survival in an environment that is against their odds •Both have a male lead who openly loves and favors the female lead which results in calamity •Both dramas have the leads constantly fighting off schemes from other jealous female antagonists •Both have some maids/eunuchs who are corrupt or betray •Both shows have beautiful costumes and scenery DISCLAIMER: Ruyi takes place in an actual royal harem in a totally different period and THERE IS NO REVENGE PLOT/IDENTITY THEFT. Also the male lead in Weiyoung is 100 TIMES BETTER than the one in Ruyi character wise.
I recommend this both drama because , Male lead and Female lead try to solve problem In one drama explosion and another student murder/suicide
- palace life - depressing vibe - lots of tears - heart wrenching characters - strong female lead - ill-fated bond between ML and FL that results in negatively affecting the FL's life - obsessive love - cruel/hateful emperor - focuses on characters' lives - beautiful cinematography/costumes
Empress Ki

8.6 2013

- Both shows has strong manipulating female lead - Both about Harem - Both about female lead raising to power from Lowest rank, Empress Ki has more action and FL is physically strong.
The road to becoming an empress is paved with treachery. Ruyi is a consort who quickly learns to navigate the treacherous politics of the royal court and move up the ranks. After becoming Empress, Ruyi still must survive the many conspiracies against her. Her relationship with Emperor Qianlong becomes eroded even when Ruyi is able to overcome the challenges. Can Ruyi maintain her role as Empress under such difficult circumstances? ~~ Adapted from the novel "Hou Gong Ru Yi Zhuan" by Liu Lian Zi.
•Palace drama dealing with its occupants daily lives throughout many years/decades. •A smart, magnificent female lead who fell in love with a distrustful emperor that frankly speaking didn't really deserve her affection •Though they both have a very realistic feel to them, Serenade of Peaceful Joy is indeed more toned-down and peaceful than Ruyi's Royal Love in the Palace.
Deep love between main leaders Virtuous and suportive Empress Power struggles Diffilculties of poligamy Side couples Harem fights
Similar genre, story about a women's life from a princess to an empress, tragedic, romance, historical, political
Similar genre, this is the story of Emperor ShunZhi (15 March 1638 - 5 February 1661 Qing Dynasty) with Empress Xiao Xian or also known as Lady Dong Xiao Wan, later known as Imperial Consort Donggo. By historical records, Emperor ShunZhi is the grand father of Emperor Xiang Long (Hong Li) in this Ruyi's Royal Love In The Palace.
This "The Last Emperor" has 2 different choices, it has the longer version the drama and the movie itself. Both are great stories. The Last Emperor foretell the endings of Qing Dynasty. And by historical records, The Last Emperor - Xuan Tong Emperor (7 February 1906 - 17 October 1967) also known as Pu Yi, is the grandson of Emperor Qian Long (Hong Li) in this Ruyi's Royal Love In The Palace. It shown the down falls of Qing Dynasty after Emperor Qian Long (Hong Li) named his successor the 15th son - Yong Yan (Emperor Jia Qing from 13 November 1760 - 2 September 1820). During his reign it was the doomed era of China as opium started to smuggling in and also related to another historical even the marriage of Emperor Jia Qing with Empress Dowager CiXi.
One of the "Must Know" story of Qing Dynasty's most wicked Empreress Dowager - Ci Xi ( 3 November 1835 - 15 November 1908 ). Empress Dowager Ci Xi by historical records was the Emperor Tong Zhi ( Yong Yan)'s Imperial Concubine and the grandmother of Emperor Xuan Tong (Pu Yi).
Set in the Northern Song dynasty, the story follows Sheng Ming Lan, an unfavored concubine-born 6th daughter of an official. After losing her mother at a young age, Ming Lan is raised by her paternal grandmother. Growing up, she learns to hide her true genius self and use crafty and cunning methods in order to survive the tough conditions where family members are plotting against each other and where no actual familial love exists. She then meets Gu Ting Ye, the second son of a rich marquis household, who is supposed to inherit wealth from both the parents and a noble title. Unlike Ming Lan, Gu Ting Ye is straightforward with his actions and never hides his true self, causing him to fall victim to all the planning and plotting against him, where he ends up losing everything. Ming Lan and Ting Ye join forces, and through cunning schemes and daring endeavors, they both rise in position and work to obtain justice from those that have wronged them.
Ruyi's Royal Love in the Palace is the sequel to Zhen Huan. But both are harem dramas and they can be watched without having to watch the other. Zhen Huan covers the harem of emperor Yongzheng and in Ruyi, Yongzheng's son, Qianlong, rises to the throne and the story focuses on Ruyi, a consort of his harem.
Both are harem dramas. Empress Of China is set in the Tang Dynasty, in the reign of Tai Zong Li Shi Min. Ruyi's Royal Love In The Palace is set in Qing Dynasty and the emperor is Qianlong, the sixth emperor of Qing, son of emperor Yongzheng. Main female leads must survive the cruel harem life. Fun fact: in both dramas the main character's name is Ruyi.
