Haruko Saigo faces various hardships as she attempts to become a full-fledged maiko (apprentice geisha) in a geisha district of Kyoto. Haruko, who was born in Kagoshima and raised in Tsugaru, struggles to learn things like the Kyoto dialect and traditional song and dance as she chases her dream.
