The story follows Shang Yi Zhi, the son of the Grand Princess, who masquerades as a playboy to conceal his true identity. He encounters A Mai, the daughter of the Duke of Jingguo from Southern Xia, who also hides her identity and disguises herself as a man. As a child, she witnessed her entire family being murdered by her childhood foster brother, Chen Qi. Driven by vengeance, she navigates the martial world to settle the score with Chen Qi. Their paths cross when A Mai saves Shang Yi Zhi, subsequently aiding him in escaping from perilous situations multiple times, as their fates intertwine. As war erupts, both A Mai and Shang Yi Zhi join the military—Shang Yi Zhi becomes a general while A Mai, starting as an infantry soldier, climbs the ranks through her remarkable talent. On the battlefield, A Mai repeatedly clashes with General Chang Yu Qing from the enemy forces. Despite their confrontations, they unintentionally go through life-and-death situations together, developing a mutual understanding and uneasy respect. Despite being pursued and confronted with challenges, Shang Yi Zhi strives to find his true self and achieve greatness with the support of his allies, including A Mai. However, the harsh realities of war compel Shang Yi Zhi and A Mai to put their personal feelings aside, dedicating their youth and passion to defending their homeland.
