Scarlett reminds me so much of Goo Se Ra. They're both funny, justice-oriented, and optimistic in the work they do. Their fluffy relationship dynamics with their respective partners are also similar; both women are so high energy, confident, and adoring and their partners are so soft. Both shows also have great depictions of female careerwomen and friendships as well as themes of politics and power.
- candidate with no previous political experience gets voted in and learns about politics on the job - comedic portrayal of politics - main leads both really like/want money lol - strong female leads
Watching into the ring reminded me of the same feeling when watching all about my romance back then... They are completely different, but they share the political side, and both drama have a lovely couple
In both dramas the female protagonist rarely withdraws from picking a fight about the injustices she encounters in the office. The guy is the timid one and often is viewed as someone or too angelic or as someone who is just too weird.
Underdog Tale Fighting and Taking Down Corrupted Bad Guys Fierce and Righteous Main Leads Deals with Issues Facing Their Community Colorful Supporting Cast Comedic Use of Visual Gags
If you like to watch the struggle between political candidates and the comedy that created because of that conflict ... then these two works share that kind of comedy.
Into the Ring is based on this J-drama Both have female leads who fall into politics due to their circumstances Both characters come from lesser backgrounds and have to move their way up using their street smarts and strong character Both discuss how politics work in their respective countries Only difference is there's not much emphasis placed on romance than Into the Ring
Main character doing something that becomes their true power Office Politics and Drama within Characters Mentor-Mentee relationship Mundanity of Ordinary Life and Getting By Due to Strong Motives Both main characters have done ordinary jobs prior to being hired Both deal a bit with the issue of nepotism in the beginning
Female Character Butting Heads With Her More Elite Male Lead Elite Male Lead who ends up working together with the Female Lead Office and Workplace Drama and Comedy Strong Female Leads who are both feisty and charismatic, and don't back down despite those who have more power than them Deals with Societal Issues Female characters who end up saving the day
Both shows: > Have a FL who has street smarts and who is reckless but very determined to achieve her goals. > Leads know each other from childhood and, as such, establish a good rappot almost from the start. > Both leads are shown to be struggling to find their footing at the start of the show.
- strong female lead - nice, kind male lead - childhood friends - crazy chemistry between the leads - the girl kinda "wears the pants" in the relationship and drags the guy around (but he loves it)
Both dramas cover memorials and loss in a soft, slice of life way. Into the Ring is much more comedic and politics oriented, while Just Between Lovers is more melancholic and focused on the architecture/construction industry. Both dramas explore complicated relationships with parents and the frustration of trying to create change in a world determined to be stagnant. I really love the initiative both FLs take and how confident they are in pursuing their relationships. The main couples' personalities aren't very similar except that they both start out as friends and maintain emotional support for each other even after they start dating; truly two of my favorite drama couples.
- Both dramas are hyperreal workplace comedies with hilarious antics that ensue - Eccentric characters dealing with a power struggle due to corruption/politics
