A Girl Like Me (2021)

While A Girl Like Me is much lighter than The Rebel Princess, both stories are focus around the strength of the female lead. Both FLs are close family to the emperor who tends to favour them as a young girl in the family. Emperor indulges both FLs to choose their spouse, in both cases they actually end up choosing someone strategically but it is a love match. Both shows are about navigating political schemes which they just get caught up in. One has a mother who is a princess and the other a grandmother who is a princess. One has a ML who is the army general with military power and the other a close advisor to the emperor with political power. Girl Like Me has a romcom feel whilst Princess has a dramatic feel.

In both dramas: - Both dramas revolve around royals - The FL has great martial arts skills, military tactics, and schemes - The FL is naughty and acts freely, never afraid to speak their mind - A prince from the grasslands took interest in the FL - The main leads had complicated relationships - The ML is an orphan/ adopted into a different place - The main leads had many admirers - The supports lead pairs up

I recommend this both drama because , Male lead and Female lead try to solve problem In one drama explosion and another student murder/suicide

This are similar because they both are in the historical time of China as well they both are plan around the royal court. Also they show that the main female character as a strong person. As well that the main male character where a part of the royal court . Also there love story is very similar in different ways .

If you like the parents/family dynamics of the Ban's in "A Girl Like Me", then you would love the family dynamics of the Li's in "Oh! My Sweet Liar". Both dramas feature amazing warm, unconventional families with open minded and wise parents. These parents make the viewers love the characters and wish there are more parents like these in dramas.

Both have strong and ambitious female leads. Sometimes there are love triangles but "A girl similar to me" has a love triangle between her and two other guys and then another girl who also likes her boyfriend. He doesn't even see her, but then there are more love triangles which make the story more interesting how everyone is chasing someone but only the main couple returns the feeling to each other. "A girl like me" is actually interesting and kept me on my toes with some plot twists. This is a great thing because I mostly think dramas are boring and the same script with different actors.

Similarities: -Romantic comedies -Historical China setting -Strong, sassy FLs who know martial arts and aren't the traditional "virtuous" wives who recite poetry and all that gentle stuff. -Good supporting characters (especially <3 the family in AGLM) -Strong second male leads with military background -Scheming woman who hates the FL and thinks too much of herself -Political scheming -Relatively short for historical C-Dramas (36 and 40 episodes) -Misunderstandings between the main leads AGLM was adapted from a novel, while TLBH was adapted from a manhua Slight fantasy themes: In AGLM, the FL sees the future in her dreams, while in TLBH, they are hypnotized to forget and then remember the past. (I am not saying hypnotism is fantasy, but they way it is portrayed in this show is less-than-realistic.) The love story in TLBH is admittedly more passionate and there is a lot more skinship and realistic kissing/love scenes, while AGLM is pretty tame.

This is a mess of a drama. However, Janice Wu plays an extremely likeable kick ass character with a heart of gold. Not unlike the main character in AGLM.
