To achieve immortality, fox spirit Bai Shi San disguises himself as a young man and travels to the human world in search of a divine pill. There he befriends the innocent scholar Wang Zi Jin whom he later realizes is the key to his transcendence. To keep Wang safe, Bai must bond with him on his road to the imperial examination and fends off threats from mythic creatures and evil spirits.
