Zhang Tang points out Yihan as a fugitive, to which he pleads guilty. Zifu and Duan Hong visit him in prison, and she decides to defend him. This is another of Yuan Shu’s plans to drive a wedge between Zifu and Liu Che, who is anxious about the war. Zifu lists both Yihan’s crimes and merits before the imperial court. Liu Che understands her intentions, but his hands are tied due to the law. The palace receives news of Wei Qing’s victory, and Liu Che immediately issues a pardon for Yihan.
