Jing He rescues a severely injured Mei Lin, but his other option of saving her falls through, leaving him with no other choice but to obtain the antidote for her from Xuan Lie. He makes a pact with Xuan Lie to confess his crimes in return for the antidote. He then works with Yue Qin to keep Mei Lin safe while he makes a last-ditch effort to save the Emperor.
